Thunder Bluff

Ah, our dear capital! Thunder Bluff is an unparalleled work, a city built to honor the ancient Tauren spirits, atop the highlands of Mulgore.

I remember well the first time I saw her. I had collected a lot of plants and made a good amount of potions. I was instructed by the guild to put a portion of them up for sale at the auction house. So, I harnessed the kodo, filled the suitcases with the items for sale, and headed north.

My first look at Thunder Bluff.

I left very early, when the sun was still trying to penetrate the morning autumn fog. After a few minutes of marching, I could already see the silhouette of the plateaus. The closer I got, the more impressed I was with such beauty and magnificence of the nature of that place, as well as the splendid work done by our ancestors to build that city.

The City on the Highlands

The plateaus of Mulgore are like tables, with flat and extremely high ridges, one larger in the center and three smaller around it, almost as aligned as the petals of a rose and interconnected by wooden bridges and rope. To get to the top, large elevators were built on the side of the central table. They work by magic and can comfortably take one kodo with their assembler at a time.Comfort is often ignored; the crowd that comes and goes from the city, especially when it comes to the Black Moon Fair, cares little for comfort and huddles in the elevator pod. All at once. This is only possible because the magic is very reliable, or it would all come crashing down, no doubt. On the other hand, queuing a mile at the elevator door for less than five seconds of comfort and privacy wouldn't make much sense. haha

When I got in the elevator, I confess that a chill also went up my spine. At that time, I had not yet learned how to transform into an eagle, so I was quite used to my paws on the ground, touching the grass. That whole height caused me vertigo. The wind felt so strong it could knock me down, with kodo and all. As the elevator ascended, my mouth dried and the sound of many Taurens chatting increased, everything was intoxicating.

And the manticores? That was the most impressive thing I saw that day: the endless dance of the manticores coming and going from a huge tower, located right in the center of the city. Magnificent manticores, flying everywhere in Kalimdor. And how they roar!

When the elevator stopped, I resumed the walk to the auction house. I entered the main trading square, where, in addition to the auction house, the bank, a mailbox, and several professionals, including teachers and sellers, offering their services and products, some shouting. Something even natural for Taurens.

Auld Stonespire

Well, focus on the task, I put all the items I had on sale, and just as I was getting ready to return, someone caught my eye. In a tent, right next to the auction house, there was a young Tauren whose expression of anguish and revolt I couldn't help but notice. I approached and asked his name.

— Auld Stonespire — he replied.

Auld told me that his tribe lived quietly on the sacred ground of the South Barrens, until invaders forced them to flee. Their leader bravely managed to lead them to Thunder Bluff, but the sense of injustice at having their sacred ground desecrated did not allow them to rest. The invaders? Quilboars. Humanoid pigs led by Charlga Razorflank, known as “The Crone.” Auld and his people want her dead not only for revenge, but also because she plans to resurrect the Demigod Agamaggan, progenitor of the quilboar race. This could compromise not only Auld's tribe, but the entire Tauren race.

Auld's story entered my head and I couldn't stop thinking about her for even a minute during the return trip. Of course, when I thought about it, I couldn't help but take sides. And it certainly wasn't against my own people! It took me a long time to fall asleep that night. The sense of injustice felt by Auld had definitely contaminated me. A very tempting force drew me out of Bloodhoof, to the South of the Barrens.

I'll tell you about this trip on our next date. :)

Until then,

Broomn.
